Set SMART goals
The keys to successful fitness goals is making sure you are intentional. SMART goals allow you to be
Specific: What exactly do you want to accomplish in 2021?
Measurable: How can you measure what you are trying to accomplish?
Action-Oriented: What are the exact steps you can take to achieve your goal?
Realistic: Are these goals realistic for YOU specifically?
Timely: How much time will you give yourself to achieve your goal?
Here’s an Example:
“Each week I will do enough cardio to burn 1,000 calories!” This is specific to someone who wants to lose weight, can do regular cardio and can easily measure their burned calories.
Take a moment and think about your fitness New Year’s Resolutions and then turn them into SMART goals. (Tip: Be real with where you are in your current fitness journey- this makes it easier to create SMART goals.)[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row css=”.vc_custom_1608666057227{margin-top: 40px !important;}”][vc_column][vc_column_text]
Fit fitness into your Routine
It can be tricky to squeeze workouts into your routine if you have a tight schedule or you have never done this before. It’s crucial to make time for what is important, even if it’s difficult. Get creative and try your best to avoid fitness being a burden on your everyday activities. Here are some suggestions:
- Sleep in your workout clothes or have then readily accessible for AM workouts
- Try light workouts a during work break
- Take your gym bag to work
- Find an accountability partner with a similar schedule
- Do fun low impact exercises while listening to a podcast
- Stick to specific times or days that you workout

Get Excited about your Resolutions
Having a specific fitness goal in mind such as building muscle or gaining flexibility means that you will need to be consistent and persistent with your routines. Over time this can feel mundane and repetitive. Put a little excitement into your fitness plans for 2021 and add creative fitness milestones to your resolutions.
You may decide that after practicing yoga for three months you will treat yourself to a yoga retreat. Or after developing a running practice you want to run a Mud Run (or even a Tough Mudder) by the summer or 2021. Maybe you can pick up a pole dancing class after spending weeks strength training. Either way, mix it up so that you are excited about achieving the goals that you set for the new year.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
